What to expect

Each hike takes us through a variety of natural environments and terrain, giving you and your dog the opportunity to explore, build confidence and enjoy the journey together. We’ll take a relaxed approach, with the pace adapted to the group and opportunities to stop, take in the surroundings and allow dogs time to explore.

Canihike equipment can be borrowed during the session, so you don't need to invest in specialist kit before discovering whether Canihiking is right for you and your dog.

We’ll discuss how to use the equipment safely and comfortably, including appropriate harnesses, belts and lines, and provide practical guidance throughout the hike.

Canihiking is about more than simply covering distance. It gives dogs the opportunity to use their senses, explore new environments, experience different terrain and spend quality time working alongside their human. For people, it's a chance to get outside, improve fitness, meet other dog lovers and discover some beautiful places with your dog.

Who can join?

Our Canihikes are suitable for experienced and first-time participants alike. One dog per person max for complete beginners. Dogs should be comfortable walking for the duration of the hike.

Dogs must be over 12 months old and physically well enough for the activity. If you have any concerns about your dog's fitness or health, please consult your vet before taking part.

We understand that not every dog is comfortable in busy or unfamiliar situations. If your dog is nervous, reactive or needs a little more space, please let us know when booking so we can consider their needs when planning the hike.

Small groups, big adventures

Orgabised group hikes are limited to 10 participants, allowing us to keep the group manageable while still creating a friendly and social experience.

Hikes start from various locations and last approximately 3 hours. Exact routes, distance and terrain may vary depending on the conditions and the needs of the group.

Canihike equipment is available to borrow during the session.

Whether you're completely new to Canihike or already enjoy exploring the trails with your dog, come along, meet like-minded people and enjoy an adventure together.

We also offer 1-to-1 canihikes and small group hikes for up to 4 people (family and friends).

Health, Safety and Consent

Your safety and your dog’s wellbeing are important to us. Before your session, you’ll be asked to complete a Health & Consent Form covering relevant health information for both you and your dog. This helps us understand any concerns, limitations or individual needs and adapt the session where appropriate.

You are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information about your own health and your dog’s health and behaviour. Any health concerns, injuries, medical conditions or other factors that may affect participation should be disclosed before the session.

Canihiking is an active outdoor activity and, like any physical activity, carries some risk of injury to both humans and dogs. We’ll take a sensible, progressive approach and work within the abilities of you and your dog, but you remain responsible for making decisions about your own participation and your dog’s welfare during the session.

If you are unsure whether you or your dog is physically fit enough to take part, please seek appropriate professional advice before booking. For dogs, this should be your veterinary surgeon.

The Health & Consent Form will be emailed to you after your booking enquiry and must be completed before your session can be confirmed.
